About Carys

Hi, I’m Carys. If you’re here, you’re probably trying to get a sense of the person behind the words - and I know how hard that can be from a screen.

I’m a down-to-earth psychotherapeutic counsellor, and relationships sit at the heart of my work. I support adults experiencing anxiety, low self-worth, and relational trauma - including abuse, difficult childhood experiences, and infidelity.

I hold a Master’s degree in Psychotherapeutic Counselling, a BSc in Psychology, and I’m a registered member of the BACP.

My approach is warm, relaxed, and human. I aim to create a space where you can show up exactly as you are - whether that’s work clothes or your comfiest sweats. All parts of you are welcome here: the messy, the unsure, the laughter, and the expletives. There’s no pressure to have things figured out.

My background & values

Before moving into full-time private practice, I worked as a counsellor at a women’s charity and a specialist sexual violence service, supporting survivors of domestic abuse and childhood trauma. Earlier in my career, I worked in sexual health and relationships outreach with young people, LGBTQ+ communities, and sex workers. These experiences continue to shape my commitment to inclusive, stigma-free, trauma-aware care.

Alongside private practice, I design and deliver mental health and wellbeing training for workplaces and schools - translating therapeutic ideas into practical, everyday tools.

Outside of work, you’ll usually find me outdoors, coffee in hand, stopping to greet every dog (and occasionally a sheep or donkey) along the way.

If this resonates and you’re curious about what therapy with me might feel like, you’re very welcome to explore the next page.
