About Carys

Hi, I’m Carys. If you’re here, there’s a good chance you’re trying to get a sense of the human behind the words - and I know how hard that can be from a screen. In this section, I’ll do my best to give you a sense of me as a person.

I’m a down-to-earth psychotherapeutic counsellor, and relationships sit at the heart of everything I do. I work primarily with adults experiencing anxiety, low self-worth, and the impact of relational trauma - including abuse, difficult childhood experiences, and infidelity.

I hold a Masters degree in Psychotherapeutic Counselling, a BSc in Psychology, and I’m a registered member of the BACP.

As a therapist, I’m warm, relaxed, and human in how I work. I aim to create a space where you can show up exactly as you are - in work clothes or your comfiest sweats. I welcome all parts of you - including the messy, the unsure, the laughter and the expletives. There’s no pressure to perform insight or have things neatly worked out.

A little context

Before moving into full-time private practice, I worked as a counsellor in a specialist sexual violence service and with survivors of domestic abuse and childhood trauma. Earlier in my career, I worked in sexual health and relationships outreach, supporting young people, LGBTQ+ communities, and folks in sex work. These experiences continue to shape my commitment to inclusive, stigma-free, trauma-aware therapy.

Outside the therapy room, I design and deliver wellbeing and mental health training for workplaces and schools, with a focus on turning therapeutic theory into accessible, practical tools for every day life. When I’m not working, you’ll most likely find me outdoors with almost certainly with a coffee in hand, pausing to greet every dog (and occasionally a sheep or donkey) on my route.

If any of this resonates and you’re wondering what therapy with me might be like, hop over to the next page.
