About Carys
Hi, I’m Carys—a down-to-earth, MSc-qualified therapist who believes that healing happens best when you feel safe, heard, and maybe even able to laugh once in a while (yes, even in therapy). I work with adults across a broad range of issues, but specialise in anxiety, low self-worth, relational trauma/ abuse and infidelity.
Before moving into full-time private practice, I worked within a specialist sexual violence service and a women’s charity supporting survivors of interpersonal violence. My career before therapy was in specialist sexual health outreach with young people, LGBTQ+ folks, and sex work communities. These experiences not only deepened my respect for people’s resilience, but shaped my commitment to offering a space that’s inclusive, affirming, and free of judgement.
I’m a relational therapist at heart. That means I see our connection as the foundation of the work. You don’t need to have the “right” words, or even know exactly what’s going on - just show up as you are. I’ll meet you there.
Real talk (with warmth - and humour where it fits)
A non-judgemental, compassionate space
A therapist who’ll walk alongside you—not ahead or behind
I hold a Masters in Psychotherapeutic Counselling, a BSc in Psychology, and I’m a registered member of the BACP. My therapeutic style is integrative, drawing on person-centred, narrative therapy and existential theory. If those words don’t mean much to you yet, don’t worry - it basically means I tailor the way I work to you. Because therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all.
Outside the therapy room, I am a consultant and facilitator for a workplace wellbeing training provider, delivering training around resilience, trauma-informed practice, and mental health. When I’m not working, you’ll most likely find me outdoors with a coffee in hand, pausing to greet every dog (and occasionally a sheep or donkey) on my route. I find clarity and calm in fresh air, good conversation, and seeking out small pockets of joy.
